Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers says Manchester United have the capacity to draw celebrity titles.
Rodgers insists that the air related to United remains despite their lack of trophies – that is talisman Harry Maguire abandoned for Old Trafford.
He said:”I have been blessed enough having been at Liverpool, and that I know the draw that kind of club has.
“Liverpool and Manchester Utd are the two largest clubs in the nation by far. There are clubs and several other clubs but those two, in terms of status, are above everyone else.
“When gamers get the opportunity to visit one of those clubs and experience that strain and expectation – and of course the financial side also, where you are able to go and double your wages – then that package, in a short career and in Harry’s era, is possibly too tough to turn down.
“And that I get that. What we’re building here at Leicester is exciting, even using all the brand new training ground and the way we are trying to advance on the area, but also for lots of gamers who draw is still there and that I know it.”
The trophy-rich era under Sir Alex Ferguson has turned into a distant memory since his departure from 2013, although Leicester have won Premier League titles as then.
Underneath David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that the gulf to rivals Manchester City and Liverpool has become a chasm, although the gap to the chasing pack has narrowed alarmingly.
United have completed in the top four in the Premier League twice as Ferguson abandoned six years ago, winning two trophies, and Leicester will go six points in front of their opponents with victory.
Rodgers added:”They might not have attained what they would have liked over the last few years but it’s still a very hard spot to go and I am aware that Leicester have not won at Old Trafford in 21 decades.”
