Sir Andrew Strauss to chair ECB committee
Sir Andrew Strauss has been appointed as the chair of the England and Wales Cricket Board committee.
Strauss, who had been this week knighted in Theresa May’s resignation honours, gave up his place as manager of championships last year to spend some time along with his wife, Ruth.
The captain has continued to work with the organisation, as well as setting up the Ruth Strauss Foundation, and has agreed to seat the ECB cricket committee.
Peter Wright, who has been in place for the previous nine years was substituted by him.
“It is a real pleasure to come back to ECB in this new capability. ECB and the whole cricket family have been a very important source of support within an extremely difficult year and it is very great to be back at Lord’s, a location that’s become a second home for me,” Strauss said.
“I am extremely enthusiastic about creating and growing cricket in England and Wales and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the stunt to continually drive all aspects of the professional game, such as women’s, men’s and handicap cricket.
“I’ve seen first-hand how this summer of cricket has motivated more people to fall in love with all the game and I can’t wait to help build on its achievement.”
