UFC 219 Odds and Predictions: Cyborg vs. Holm
UFC 219 is set to take place in Las Vegas on December 30th. Typically, the UFC’s December occasion is allowed as the big end-of-year display with a card that is piled from top to bottom. On the other hand, the present menu for UFC 219 lacks a little sizzle.
The main event has Cris Cyborg protecting her featherweight title against the other ferocious puncher in Holly Holm. On paper, it may look one-sided, but recall the last time we doubted Holm in perceived mismatch title fight?
It is a fantastic matchup, to be certain. Yet, there are worries it won’t sell pay-per-views. Thus now, rumors are swirling about last-minute developments to the card, such as Nate Diaz in some capacity. A trilogy struggle with Conor McGregor has been the dream, but that won’t be happening as McGregor is coping with some fallout from his Bellator fiasco and punching a drug cartel associate. Oops.
Those transgressions will keep the Irishman from the UFC octagon for a protracted period of time, if not permanently.
As for Diaz, he seemingly was offered everything but the moon. But the Stockton native is demanding a celestial figure, where I mean totes and bags of cash, before he steps within an Octagon again.
While one or two more bouts could be added to provide the card a few additional pugilistic goodness, it looks like the main event is set, and I am okay with that. What fans actually need at this stage are quality conflicts, not just big names. And in addition to Cyborg/Holm, we are also going to see Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Edson Barboza, a massive fight that could give another lightweight contender. The weigh-in may be just as dramatic as the battle given Nurmagomedov struggles to make 155.
While we wait patiently for more spice to be added, let us stir the present pot and divide the main and co-main events of this evening for your gambling needs.
